A Utah state Senate bill introduced on Tuesday would impose a 4.7% sales tax on online ad revenue generated by tech giants like Facebook and Google, the Deseret News reports. Modeled
after similar legislation in Maryland, it would affect companies that derive at least $1 million from targeted advertising in the state. It also would impact those that pull in at least $100 million
from targeted advertising and depend on it for at least 50% of their annual revenue.
