Notus Owner Reacts To 'Washington Post' Layoffs By Hiring Staffers

Billionaire media owner Robert Allbritton plans to double the staff of his digital news publication Notus (News of the United States) by the end of this year, a decision
precipitated by the layoffs at The Washington Post, The Guardian reports. The staff now consists of 50 people. Saying he was “pained” by the
layoffs, Allbritton has already hired Post political columnist Dana Milbank, Congress reporter Paul Kane and chief economics correspondent Jeff Stein. “Opportunity knocks, and
you’re going to decide if you’re going to answer the door or not,” he said.
