Google launches AI Mode in 180 countries and territories

Google is rolling out AI Mode in 180 countries and territories after recently expanding AI Mode in the UK, India and of course, the US.

Google announced:

“Starting today, we’re bringing more advanced agentic and personalized capabilities to AI Mode so you can make progress on your tasks and get more tailored information based on your interests. We’re also bringing AI Mode to even more people around the world.”

180 countries and regions. Google has the whole list of countries and territories where AI Mode is now available over here, and Google will continue to expand the list and updated availablility on that page.

AI Mode is still only available for English languages, as well.

New agentic experiences. Google also announced new agentic experiences in AI Mode, specifically for finding restaurant reservations. Plus, Google said it will be expanding soon to local service appointments and event tickets.

Here is what that looks like:

Personalized preferences. Plus, Google said searchers in the U.S. who have opted into the AI Mode experiment in Labs will see results tailored to their personal preferences and interests. This starts with dining-related topics, helping you discover new restaurants and cafes that match your unique tastes.

Here is what that looks like:

Share links. You can now share the AI Mode responses with a new link sharing capability available in the U.S., your contacts can jump into the AI Mode response where you left off, ask follow-up questions and continue exploring on their own. Senders are always in control of these shared links, which can be deleted at any time.

Some history. As a reminder, AI Mode was introduced in the US, within Search Labs back in March 2025. Then at Google I/O in May, Google announced AI Mode would roll out fully to US searchers without having to opt into it via Labs. It took three weeks, but AI Mode began its US rollout in mid-June. On June 24, 2025, Google launched AI Mode within Search Labs in India. Then weeks later Google removed the labs requirement and it is available for all searchers in India.

Now AI Mode is available in 180 countries and territories.

What is AI Mode. AI Mode is a new tab within Google Search that brings you into a more AI-like interface. Google said AI Mode “is particularly helpful for queries where further exploration, reasoning, or comparisons are needed.” AI Mode lets you explore a topic and get comprehensive AI-based answers without you needing to do those comparisons and analyses yourself. We saw rumors of this news and it is finally officially here, for some of you.

AI Mode uses a “query fan-out” technique that issues multiple related searches concurrently across subtopics and multiple data sources and then brings those results together to provide a response. Google said using this query fan-out method provides searchers with a “more breadth and depth of information than a traditional search on Google.”

AI Mode supports searching with text, voice, and images through its multimodal capabilities. Plus, AI Mode offers the conversational follow-up questions like you’ve seen in AI Overviews and Gemini.

Tracking AI Mode. You won’t be able to easily track AI Mode queries and data in Search Console, despite that data being logged in Search Console. Google lumps it all together with normal search, despite it being a separate tab within Google.com.

Now that AI Mode is outside of Search Labs in India, you will see this data in Search Console, but it will just make it all super messy.

Why we care. AI Mode is touted by Google as the future of Google Search. Google will continue to roll out AI Mode to more and more regions and eventually it will be available to all users, worldwide, outside of Search Labs. This is the fourth full expansion of AI Mode, first being U.S., second being India and the third being the UK. Now, it is available for English languages in almost 200 regions.

You should be playing with AI Mode to see how your sites and clients are impacted.
