Understanding the Importance of Heading Elements in SEO: What Google Really Thinks

Using headings in the right order is good for helping people understand the content better. However, for Google’s search ranking, it’s not a big deal if the headings are out of order. The idea that H1 is the most important for Google is outdated; it hasn’t been true for many years.
What Are Heading Elements?
– Heading elements (H1, H2, etc.) are like the titles and subtitles of a webpage.
– They help organize the content and show what each section is about.
– There are six levels of headings, with H1 being the most important and H6 the least.
H1 for Google?
H1 is the most important heading for screen readers but it’s not the most important (for Google).
Proper Use of Heading
The proper use of heading elements is to put them into hierarchical order, not necessarily for SEO.
It’s only encouraged
The official standards explicit that users are “encouraged” to only use H1 elements.
